I'm sure by now, many of you have visited the website "What Are Friends Really For?". Before and after Warren eventually left us, that site saw over 20,000 visitors in just 3 months (at the time) and the response to his family and friends was incredible. The support shown by so many caring people was at times overwhelming and without it, many of us wouldn't have gotten through such a tragic ordeal.
Many people do not really know the story behind how that site came about and was spread amongst so many people. In fact, that site was created during a time where hopes were uncertain, and all that we had was each other. Many nights we all sat together hoping and praying things would work out for the best no matter what and it was a time where many bonds among friends were strengthened.
As a group of friends, we never left each others' side for that entire week with the exception of just one night. After growing tired from sleepless nights and anxiety......we all decided for that maybe one night at least we should try to go home and maybe rest for our upcoming journey to Halifax in a few days. That night.....all I could think of was how strong everyone was trying to be, how much we depended on each other for support and strength. It almost felt as if we all sort of became one for that entire week. It was then I realized that I didn't have just any normal group of friends, I had a group of brothers and we were all together for a common purpose.....to stick together no matter what happened.
That feeling immediately made me think of Warren and just how much I wanted to let him know we were all there for each other, for his family and most of all......for him. Ironically enough, a new Creed song "My Sacrifice" happened to be on TV and those words just fit with the situation. After that, the feelings, thoughts and words just came out so naturally, it was only 3 hours later that the site was completed and posted to the internet. I wanted this to be a motivator.......something for him to see when he woke......to know that we were there all along.
At the same time, word was getting out about this site which was only originally for friends and his family. Before we knew it, the letters, the emails, the messages on the site were pouring in at an incredible rate. All this support helped so much during the ordeal and even though fate decided that things would turn out as they did.......to this day, we all look back on that site as a moment in time where people came together to support each other through a time we all thought we could never get through.
For that, I'd like to personally thank all of you who left prayers, messages or even visited on behalf of myself, of Warren's family and of course, the boyz. Those things will never go unnoticed, nor will that site ever be taken down. It will be there as a reminder of just how much people care and most of all.......how much we loved Warren.
Thank You.....
